Location of Project: Main Street Elementary School, Soquel

Schedule: Wednesdays and /or Thursdays for 45 minutes
During the summer there is watering and maintenance.

Background & Goals: Jan Janes is a volunteer who works with the Kindergarten teacher at Main Street Elementary School. The project was designed to teach young children science through gardening, the connection of other living things to human, and custodianship for the earth. Children are taught the importance of insects in the garden, parts of a seed, cycles (seed, butterfly, tadpole), sorting, identifying, labeling, and connecting, the scientific method (observe, questions, guess, test, tell), measuring, and much more.
